AFL Spartanburg Associates Volunteer 800 Hours for Annual Month of Service

Spartanburg, SC – Each year, AFL associates around the world take part in a Month of Service, engaging in projects that support our communities and invest in the future. Nearly 200 associates from AFL in Spartanburg volunteered their time at seven different organizations throughout September and October.

AFL Month of Service VolunteersVolunteers once again partnered with Habitat Spartanburg on two different builds. Our volunteers have a direct impact on families in our communities by helping with the construction of these houses. These builds help provide housing for deserving families so they can build a stable future as part of our community.

Volunteers at Hope Remains Ranch painted sheds, landscaped, spread mulch and mended fences. Taking part in these projects helps to ensure that Hope Remains Ranch will continue to be able to provide equine therapy to children who have experienced traumatic events.

Another opportunity for volunteers was with the Palmetto Conservation Foundation. Their mission is to conserve South Carolina’s natural and cultural resources, preserve historic landmarks and promote active outdoor recreation on the Palmetto Trail and other greenways. AFL associates helped with trail clean-up and race prep for the “True to the Brew” half marathon.

Greer Relief was also aided by AFL associates. Volunteers supported the organization’s annual golf tournament by assembling bags and supporting needs during the tournament. Additionally, volunteers sorted, stocked and boxed the pantry.

A team went out to Middle Tyger Community Center to collaborate on a project to support children in the early learning center, assist in the food pantry and help beautify the facility. AFL is proud to aid Middle Tyger Community Center in their efforts to improve and support the local Spartanburg community.

Additionally, associates volunteered at the Hope Center for Children’s new Cedar Springs Campus by painting and cleaning to prepare the house for transitional living clients. The Hope Center for Children takes a stand against child abuse and neglect in Upstate communities.

TreesGreenville works to keep Greenville County a beautiful place to live and AFL volunteers helped with this effort by spreading mulch at the Pavilion in Greenville.

AFL Spartanburg associates volunteered 800 hours during its annual Month of Service, equating to approximately $20K in volunteer service giving to multiple organization. Around the world, AFL associates donated nearly 2,000 hours of volunteer service.
