AFL Introduces the FlowScout™ DPPM Downstream PON Power Meter

AFL, a global leader in providing end-to-end solutions for the energy, service provider, enterprise, hyperscale, and industrial markets, announces the launch of the FlowScout™ Downstream PON Power Meter (DPPM). This cutting-edge tool provides telecom engineers and broadband operators with a fast and easy way to measure downstream PON power levels.

FlowScout™ DPPM Downstream PON Power Meter

The FlowScout DPPM boasts a user-friendly interface with an icon-driven design on a large color touchscreen, making it intuitive and easy to use for both novice and professional technicians. It automatically identifies and measures power levels for GPON, EPON, RF Video, and XG/XGS/10GEPON.

The FlowScout DPPM uses a single port to measure PON and broadband power levels. Advanced measurement capabilities include a broadband power meter with Continuous Wave, Tone, and Wave ID, enabling rapid and error-free measurements. The DPPM stores up to 4,000 test results internally and allows for data download via USB, or Bluetooth with the free FlexApp. Detailed reports can be generated using AFL's FlexReporter™ software suite.

According to Gordon Siebenhaar, Supervisor of Cable and Fiber Operations at Shrewsbury Electric, “We love how easy it is to test with. Just clean and inspect your connections, plug your fiber in, and press the test icon on the FlowScout DPPM. From startup to testing is amazingly fast.”

Designed for durability and portability, the DPPM can withstand harsh field conditions using IP54 weather protection and offers over 180 hours of operation on a single charge. A variety of field-replaceable output adapters support multiple connector types.
