AFL to Showcase Converged Access Network Solutions at Fiber Connect 2021

Spartanburg, SC – AFL, an industry leading manufacturer of fiber optic cable, equipment, and accessories, is exhibiting at Fiber Connect in Nashville, Tennessee, July 25 – 28. Visit AFL in booth #930 to see its Converged Access Network solutions and its newest product releases including Apex™ Fiber Optic Splice Closures, Fujikura 90S+ Fusion Splicer, and Wrapping Tube Cable with SpiderWeb Ribbon®.
AFL's Converged Access Network Solutions
AFL will feature Apex splice closures at Fiber Connect. These closures are designed to lower overall installation time with easier-to-use sealing and cable retention methods. With a wedge-based gel sealing system, installation time is drastically decreased as network reliability increases. The Apex X-2 and X-2S splice closure sizes have maximum capacities of 1,728 and 3,456 fibers, respectively, when using 200 µm SpiderWeb Ribbon.

The new Fujikura 90S+ core alignment fusion splicer with Active Fusion Control (AFC) technology will be demonstrated in booth #930 at Fiber Connect. AFC technology improves splice losses for fibers that possess a poor cleave angle and prevents bad splices due to a poorly maintained cleaver. With the extended life of 300 splice and heat cycles, the 90S+ can be used in multiple field splicing applications such as bend-insensitive fibers in drop cables, long-haul terrestrial and submarine LEAF® fibers, loose buffer fiber, splice-on connectors, and more.

AFL’s Wrapping Tube Cable (WTC) with SpiderWeb Ribbon (SWR®) is an ultra-high density outside plant cable designed specifically for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) or access markets. With an ultra-high density and SpiderWeb Ribbon, WTC provides the smallest cable diameter and lowest weight, high-fiber count ribbon cable in the industry. The cable is available with 144 fibers to 1,728 fibers in the armored option and up to 3,456 fibers in the non-armored configuration.
