AFL Introduces Gel-Free Technology to its All-Dielectric Self-Supporting (ADSS) Fiber Optic Cable Family

AFL, an industry-leading manufacturer of fiber optic cable, connectivity, accessories and equipment introduces a new gel-free, dry buffer tube technology to its All-Dielectric Self-Supporting (ADSS) Fiber Optic Cable family.

As its name indicates, there is no support or messenger wire required, so installation is achieved in a single pass, making ADSS an economical and simple means of building a fiber optic network. It is also ideal for installation in distribution and transmission environments, even when live-line installations are required.

The dry buffer tube technology incorporates a specialized water-blocking binder that absorbs any moisture the cable may encounter. This not only saves time but also eliminates the need for gel cleanup, making it convenient and efficient to access the fibers.

As part of this product launch, AFL-ADSS (double jacket designs) and Flex-Span® ADSS Fiber Optic Cable (single jacket designs) will now offer the choice of gel-filled and gel-free technology. Both options are designed and tested in compliance with the IEEE 1222 industry standard for ADSS cables. AFL believes in the appropriate application, either option should provide equally reliable performance.

AFL remains committed to delivering high-quality fiber optic solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations. With the introduction of gel-free dry buffer tube technology to the ADSS product family, AFL continues to lead the industry in innovation and customer satisfaction.
