AFL Supports Communities Worldwide With 1,586 hours of Service in September

Spartanburg, S.C. – December 1, 2022 – AFL vows to support the communities that we live in by giving back. AFL dedicated the month of September to service and served the community hands on through the “Unite” program, netting 1,586 total hours of community service.

AFL saw participation in five countries! Groups from Australia, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom and the United States did a total of 74 projects worldwide. Projects included building homes in South Carolina, U.S. for Habitat for Humanity, hosting a food drive in Australia and helping a hospice center fix up their garden in Swindon, U.K.

Headquartered in Duncan, S.C. AFL employees in South Carolina netted 700 hours of service work building houses, cleaning up an urban farm, and painting a community center nearby. Canadian employees netted nearly 400 hours working with local foodbanks to collect and distribute food for families, preforming yard work and assembling care packages for single mothers. With hands on work like this being put on pause, the excitement to be back in the community really showed.

“It's been a few years since we have been able to get out into our communities globally because of the pandemic,” said Lisa Gunton, Vice President of Human Resources at AFL. “We are incredibly grateful that we were able to bring back our Unite program which allowed us to safely help many people in need worldwide.

AFL continues to serve throughout the year and is already planning for another month of service next year.
