AFL Showcasing Overhead Electrification and Fiber Optic Systems at APTA 2021

Spartanburg, SC – AFL, an industry leading manufacturer of fiber optic cable, equipment, and accessories, is exhibiting at the APTA Expo in Orlando, Florida, November 8 – 10. Visit AFL in booth #3743 to see its transportation system solution including rail overhead electrification assemblies and components, underground connections, wiring, fiber optic cabling, system monitoring and critical system hardware.

AFL Exhibiting at the APTA Expo

AFL manufactures complete electrification Overhead Contact Systems (OCS) solutions comprised of thousands of available components primarily from our very own Dossert® and Ohio Brass® product lines. These products are built for high-speed rail, light rail, streetcar/tram, historic trolley, electric trolley bus, and various 3rd rail applications. Assemblies include familiar requirements for cantilevers, balance weight systems, fixed terminations, and numerous in-span hardware solutions. Components include all necessary pipe and wire fittings to build complete assemblies including clamps, pulleys, insulators, hangers, links, splices, dead ends, fabricated supports, suspension cables, brackets, hinges, etc.

AFL will showcase its Dossert® line of connectors used in underground installations. The MICON product line consists of connectors, limiter assemblies and accessories. MICON connectors are pre-insulated for secondary network cables and feature tin-plated copper alloy bus with a covering of Myprene rubber. MICON Limiter assemblies consist of tee connectors, tap assemblies, insulating caps, couplers, terminals and more. AFL’s underground connectors are ideal for locations such as pull-boxes, damp locations, underground installations, tunnel walls, and various other compromised applications whereby large cable bend radius requirements may restrict critical power installations and cause the need for extensive cost. AFL offers a wide variety of MICON accessories.

As the industry leader of fiber optic solutions, AFL offers a full line of cabling systems that meet the needs of rail applications and optimizes the network infrastructure critical for communications, signaling, security, system infrastructure monitoring and positive train control. Part of this solution is the new Fujikura 90S+ core alignment fusion splicer with Active Fusion Control (AFC) technology. This technology improves splice losses for fibers that possess a poor cleave angle and prevents bad splices due to a poorly maintained cleaver. The 90S+ can be used in multiple field splicing applications.
