Explanation of Vibrec® Reports
The Vibrec® software uses the inputs given by customers to build Levels of Vibration Protection based on a number of factors such as cable properties, line tension, span length, etc. From these inputs the software will determine the number of Stockbridge dampers recommended and will also calculate the proper damper spacing to optimize power dissipation. AFL damper recommendations are backed by over 60 years of field and laboratory experience.
The cover page will be the general information about the environment details, damper and spacer catalog numbers, the total quantity of products recommended, and also the associated clamp hardware and its torque.
On the following pages the recommendations for the damper placements and each different conductor will have their own section with the attachment/suspension hardware such as armor rods or formed wire suspension.
From there the program will go into detail about the recommendations for each Ruling Span (RS) input by the user.
The Ruling Span is calculated and shows the max span length as well as number of spans in this RS. From there the Initial and Final Tensions and guarding with armor rod lengths (if applicable). The next column will show the total number of each damper Product Number (PN) that is recommended for that RS.
The next columns are the protection ranges which are based on span lengths. In this case, Level 0 means that no damper placements are recommended for span lengths within that range. Level 1 will mean one (1) placement of dampers recommended and Level 2 is two (2) placements of dampers. If Mid-Span dampers are recommended, there will be a graphic as well as a note at the end of the recommendations table further describing the installation instructions for the mid-span dampers.
The chart below is an example of a Vibrec report based on AFL's headquarters location conditions.
Any other notes can be found at the bottom of the recommendations such as attachment to conductor, additional dampers, etc.
